The Statement Piece

With the festive season just around the corner, what better way to make a glamorous entrance then with a statement piece of exquisite jewels?

From diamonds to emeralds and sapphires, glisten with irresistible sparkle this Christmas season.

Decked out in some extraordinary gems for Vogue Russia, this editorial featuring the beautiful Jacquelyn Jablonski, captures the innate luxury and grandeur of precious jewels.

But you needn’t break the bank to achieve the decedent splendour of a statement jewellery piece. Costume jewellery can be just as enchanting and beguiling in beauty.

“Costume jewellery is not made to give women an aura of wealth, but to make them beautiful.”

– Coco Chanel

The illustrious Coco Chanel herself was very fond of costume pieces and greatly popularised the use of faux stones, pearls and metals in her iconic pieces {even though she had quite the collection of precious gems}.

Favouring multi-coloured semi-precious stones – such as aquamarine, topaz and amethyst – Chanel would make the stones emphatically larger and bolder in colour for that added drama and mystique. She first introduced costume jewellery to her label in the 1920’s – the simplicity and elegance of her ‘little black dress’ the perfect blank canvas for lavish gems and jewels…

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! xx

Quote Of The Day:
Christian Louboutin:

The shoe designer behind those iconic red soles has said: ”I really have not so much sympathy. If Tina Turner and Prince’s back-up band can perform on stage in them for three hours, you can’t tell me they are impossible to walk in. High heels are pleasure with pain. If you can’t walk in them, don’t wear them.”

Sarah Burton Named on Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list

Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen’s Creative Director and designer of the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress, has been named on Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list. Prada Swimwear Shape Up

Prada’s exquisite curve-accentuating, bedazzled bathing suits have become the shimmering icons of Spring / Summer dressing.

These colourful, embellished bathing suits have captured the hearts of Magazine Editors and Stylists around the globe. Racking up countless Magazine covers and editorials, these vintage-inspired swim suits are the toast of the season.

Appearing on the catwalk of the Prada Spring / Summer 2012 collection; Miuccia Prada took inspiration from 60’s Americana; fast cars; and a celebration of feminine sweetness. Deep v-necklines and strategically placed lines of colourful crystals drew eyes inwards – accentuating the waist and emphasising feminine curves.

Created with graduating colours (beige, pink, red and black); crocheted flowers; or diamante crystals; these bathing suits have such beauty, texture, and craftsmanship one could be mistaken for hanging them on a wall rather than wearing them by the pool. Perfect then that the Prada one-piece is the cover subject of the season…

Do you covet the Prada one-piece? xx
