A Tutti Frutti Fashion Trend

Brighten up your wardrobe with colourful fruity looks inspired by the Spring / Summer 2011 collections.

Between Prada, Stella McCartney and Moschino Cheap & Chic, designers were feeling for a Summer health kick. There were Banana prints on the Prada runway, while Miuccia Prada herself wore banana earrings backstage. Of her colourful collection, Miuccia Prada said: “I’m tired of minimalism.”

Meanwhile, at Stella McCartney, models looked fresh, vibrant and citrusy in luscious lemon and orange prints. At Moschino Cheap & Chic, a divine lemon print 50’s inspired skirt teamed with a matching top and waisted belt, made my heart stop! So divine! Other fruits that took to the runway included; apples at Miu Miu and cherries at Anna Sui, while at Blumarine models carried lemon handbags.

However, dressing in fruit can be daring. If you would prefer to ‘taste test’ this fruity trend, check out Charlotte Olympia’s banana clutch bag or mixed fruit platform heels (pictured right). The striking heels are decorated with interlaced pineapples, bananas, strawberries and watermelons. It is the perfect way to incorporate the trend into your everyday style with effortless flair.  Of her pieces, Charlotte Dellal, the designer behind the Charlotte Olympia label, says; “They are tongue in cheek but wearable, I like accessories which have a sense of humour.”

So be daring in citrus! Make a colourful, fresh statement. You can now eat your fruit and wear it too! xx

Temperley London to show in London in February 2011

It has been announced that Temperley London will again show their Autumn / Winter 2011 collection in London in February. Celebrating it’s tenth year, Temperley London showed in New York from 2005 to 2008.  Of her label’s return to London, Temperley has said;

“While we have tremendously enjoyed showing the collections in exciting places and new ways over the past year, there is something about the drama of a show that makes it a very special experience. It’s our ten-year anniversary as well so we are even more delighted to come back to where it all started.”

About Temperley London Spring / Summer 2011

Celebrating the great romantic myths such as Guinevere and Arthur, for Spring / Summer 2011 Temperley London created a collection that evoked a modern femininity with medieval toughness. Starting the collection in a colour palette of pewter, bronze and gold, looks appeared to be wrapped in gold mesh / chain mail. As the collection continued, lighter shades of blush along with pure white created some memorable separates that are fresh, practical and perfect for summer…

Some Weekend Inspiration…

Sexy Summer Sophistication

My Sunday inspiration came in the form of Natasha Poly for Vogue Paris. Entitled ‘Plage Privée’ (French for ‘Private Beach’) and shot by Mario Sorrenti, the photos were published earlier in the year and sizzle with pure summer opulence! The stunning swimwear, unbelievable backdrops and Poly’s incredible body, create a spectacular swimwear shoot.

Being on the Gold Coast, Australia, today the temperature is set to hit 25°C (77 degrees Fahrenheit) and I am off to the beach. Having lived in London for a year, it is my first trip to the beach in what seems like forever, and I shall be trying to take some inspiration from Poly’s immaculate styling…

What are you doing this weekend? xx
