Awaiting the release of the highly anticipated film Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman (pictured right), Ballet is once again taking the spotlight. For the Spring / Summer 2011 collections, designers took inspiration from the beautiful world of Ballet.
From Erdem to Chloé and David Koma, designers created divine pieces that would look just as at ease centre-stage as they did on the catwalk. With fitted bodices and flaring skirts, the Ballet trend is exquisitely beautiful, feminine and soft.
At Chloé, nude leotards with low sculpted backs were worn with billowing below-the-knee pleated skirts. In a colour palette of white, beige, camel and black tones; red ballet flats added an unexpected eye-catching twist. While the models at Erdem wore lace, embroidered flowers and gorgeous shoes tied up the calf like ballet slippers.

Fashion Inspiration For The New Year…
The 2011 Cruise collection from Louis Vuitton has had me dreaming of a summer road trip across America. Photographed by Mark Segal, Anne Vyalitsyna stars in the campaign full of divine clothes, amazing accessories and picturesque locations.
With a carefree 60’s feel, the collection consists of; gorgeous shift and A-line dresses, high-waisted trousers and to-die-for jackets, take the spotlight. Modern sophistication, feminine silhouettes and subtle patterns create super chic lady-like looks. The fresh colour palette and accessories (from chunky statement jewellery to big white sunglasses) are perfectly styled for this fun yet undeniably chic road trip.
This Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection is my fashion inspiration for 2011. The effortless glamour, elegance and lady-like seduction make it perfect for my fashion aesthetic! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

A Tutti Frutti Fashion Trend
Brighten up your wardrobe with colourful fruity looks inspired by the Spring / Summer 2011 collections.
Between Prada, Stella McCartney and Moschino Cheap & Chic, designers were feeling for a Summer health kick. There were Banana prints on the Prada runway, while Miuccia Prada herself wore banana earrings backstage. Of her colourful collection, Miuccia Prada said: “I’m tired of minimalism.”
Meanwhile, at Stella McCartney, models looked fresh, vibrant and citrusy in luscious lemon and orange prints. At Moschino Cheap & Chic, a divine lemon print 50’s inspired skirt teamed with a matching top and waisted belt, made my heart stop! So divine! Other fruits that took to the runway included; apples at Miu Miu and cherries at Anna Sui, while at Blumarine models carried lemon handbags.
However, dressing in fruit can be daring. If you would prefer to ‘taste test’ this fruity trend, check out Charlotte Olympia’s banana clutch bag or mixed fruit platform heels (pictured right). The striking heels are decorated with interlaced pineapples, bananas, strawberries and watermelons. It is the perfect way to incorporate the trend into your everyday style with effortless flair. Of her pieces, Charlotte Dellal, the designer behind the Charlotte Olympia label, says; “They are tongue in cheek but wearable, I like accessories which have a sense of humour.”
So be daring in citrus! Make a colourful, fresh statement. You can now eat your fruit and wear it too! xx
