Editor’s Letter

My three favourite fashion photo shoots this week…

Emma Watson’s stunning beauty is captured by Mariano Vivanco in the ‘Pick Me Up’ issue of i-D Magazine. Styled by the chic Caroline Sieber, this editorial showcases Watson’s sweet, girlie side while still being sophisticatedly alluring. And love the adorable puppy! GORGEOUS!

Drew Barrymore channels Old-Hollywood glamour in the new Neiman Marcus campaign. In an assortment of looks from the coming Fall season, including; Tom Ford, Valentino, Pucci and more, Barrymore lights up the lens with the unmistakable charisma of a Hollywood icon. Eddie Nunns, vice president of Neiman Marcus brand creative, said of Barrymore: “The shoot tells the story of a star’s transformation and Ms. Barrymore had a strong hand in the execution, even down to having a point of view on hair styling. She’s a powerful, modern woman with trans-generational appeal.” EXQUISITE!

Model, Rhaisa Batista, wears striking colourful looks in feminine shapes and masculine tailoring for Vogue Brazil. Lensed by Eduardo Rezende, the feature is set in a tropical street fare which perfectly complements the vibrant clothing! BEAUTIFUL!

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! xx

Drew Barrymore for Neiman Marcus Fall 2011/12

Drew Barrymore channels ‘Old-Hollywood’ glamour for the Autumn / Winter 2011/12 campaign for Neiman Marcus. The campaign features Barrymore lying on a crumpled car, exuding timeless chic.

The images have caused some speculation online, with some drawing reference to photographer Robert Miles’ famous image of Evelyn McHale, who committed suicide in 1947 by jumping from the observation deck of the Empire State Building and landing on a parked limousine. However, a spokesperson for Neiman Marcus has said,‘”The shoot tells the story of a star’s transformation”…

Dylan Lauren’s Wedding Gown

When Dylan Lauren wed Hedge Fund Manager, Paul Arrouet, of course she would call upon her father to design her gown. Ralph Lauren created a glamorous fitted bodice with voluminous, flowing trail for his daughter’s big day. Combining duchesse satin, tulle, silk and georgette – the handmade gown is romantic, whimsical and timeless chic perfection.

Of creating a spectacular gown for his daughter, Ralph Lauren said: “I want to just give her something that she’d really treasure and give her something that would be really amazing. I want her to feel fantastic”

Of the gown, Dylan Lauren said: ‘I told my fiancé, I may sleep in it. I might wear it the next day. It’s really beautiful. I know that every bit of his energy and heart went into making sure that I liked it.”

For all the beautiful details, Andre Leon Talley will give a personal account of the day in the August edition of American Vogue.

Versace Says No To Sandblasting Denim

Versace has joined the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) which aims to improve work conditions in the textile industry.

Sandblasting is often used to give jeans a faded look. The sandblasting technique can cause fatal health risks to workers. It was outlawed in Europe in 1966; however, still occurs in other countries around the world, such as Bangladesh, China, Egypt and Mexico.

The CCC has stated, “After an intensive campaign… the Italian textile brand Versace has just announced that it will join other denim manufacturers around the globe in calling for a ban on the practice of sandblasting.”  Launched last year, other brands who have already joined the campaign include: Benetton, Burberry, Carrera Jeans, Karen Millen, Gucci Levi-Strauss, H&M, Pepe Jeans and Replay.
