MSFW Designer Series- Part2

This is Part 2 of my look at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week…

In Australia, Spring was undeniably in the air! Designers embraced colour, pattern and light fabrics, to create beautiful, fresh looks for Spring Summer…

Akira
Bold far eastern prints with beautiful embellished sequined flowers took centre stage at Akira. Soft luxurious fabrics were worn with oversized bright cardigans and grey trench coats. Striking red was balanced throughout the collection with soft pastels, whites and greys. T-shirt and tunic dresses created the perfect minimal silhouette for the strong detailing.

Gorman
Pastel polka dots, jolts of red and socks under heels at Gorman, created an effortless 70’s style. Pieces in soft fabrics adorned with ruffles or cute material flowers with button centres, made a celebration of sweet wearable pieces for Spring.

Gwendolynne
Sheer elegance, femininity and romance, made each stunning piece from Gwendolynne’s Spring Summer collection appear as if it were straight from a fairytale. Soft ruffles, beading, grecian draping and vintage buttons, added the exquisite finishing touches to the dreamy light colour palette. Floor length dresses in luxurious fabrics had beautiful silhouettes in classic off-the shoulder, strapless and cap sleeves.

Christine
A fun mix-up of prints and bright spring colours gave Christine a playful fun feel. Light, soft fabrics ranging from neutrals to bright florals created fun, feminine pieces. However, the real show stoppers were the accessories. Bold gold necklaces; bright handbags; hats with bows and even lace ear headbands: will all make strong style statements for the coming season.

Collette Dinnigan
Collette Dinnigan’s Spring Summer Collection was her usual exquisite offering of delicate embellishment, beading, lace and perfect feminine beauty. Soft layered skirts, floaty dresses and sweetheart necklines said romantic, luxury with a modern edge.

Wayne Cooper
A favourite among Australian Fashion Weeks, Wayne Cooper knows how to make a gorgeous dress! Simple dress shapes adorned with ruffles, gathers and darts, created striking looks that ranged from short to floor length. Moving through white to silver, grey and black; the collection’s colour palette matched perfectly the classic, timeless looks that appeared on the catwalk.
