Colour Your World

Tired of all the camel talk? Don’t worry this Autumn / Winter is also bringing some serious eye-popping colour to the forefront! Forget ‘matchy-matchy’ as being blasé, head to toe colour in a kaleidoscope of shades and hues will warm up your wardrobe this coming season.

Be prepared to be swept away with colour! Explosions of colour can breathe new life into your look as well as your outlook on the day. From unexpected colour blocking to fierce bold shades – like acid yellow at Versace – colour demands you to be bold and daring. And don’t be afraid to experiment…a colourful world awaits you!

Ways to wear colour:

Go Head to Toe…
Across the runways the main way to wear colour was all over! We are talking head to toe colour! Complete colour from tip to top can look sophisticatedly glamorous. At Bottega Veneta red leather pants were paired with a rose pink blouse. Take Oscar de la Renta’s blue tweed jacket, navy skirt and coordinating checkered blue tights or check out statement colour dresses by Stella McCartney and Versace.

Colour Block in unexpected palettes…
Go to town with colour blocking in contrasting colours for maximum impact. One of the main colour shocks appeared at Balenciaga where Nicolas Ghesquière’s icy blue with shades of oatmeal and brown made a strong statement. Colour Blocking was also seen at Marni and Rochas. Enhance the drama of your look by combining regal purple with colour wheel opposite yellow or shades of blue with orange. To dip your toes into this trend, start with a statement colour look and choose clashing shoes and handbag.

Use your Hues…
Colour blocking can be less daunting when done with luscious hues of the same colour. Team colours from the same family together for a harmonious look – that is both polished and chic. Think bright pinks with vivid fuchsias or turquoise with shades of blue. Keep warmer tones like orange and red together or incorporate neutral-tones to soften the look. Take Chris Benz’s orange pencil skirt with thin waist clinching belt (also orange) worn with a striking red sequin blouse. Burberry Prorsum’s lime green knee-length dress with cropped khaki military jacket is also a perfect example of this. Your hues want to blend with effortless ease for carefree pizzazz.

Get Scarlet Fever…
Be sure to wear this season’s hottest colour… red. From lace to fur and silk, dazzle in red with a twist. Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci’s red lace and white leather dress or Stella McCartney’s stunning delicate lace and silk dresses are sure fire hits. But nobody does red like Valentino! Red can be super-sexy, seductive and mysterious. Wear it with confidence and always be fierce!

Will you let colour rock your world this coming season or will you be going camel inspired? x

  2. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I think we should all be wearing head-to-toe colour, a great way to stay cheerful for autumn and make an impact!
