Accessories – Oh-So Chic
The Thin Belt Returns
For the last however many seasons the wide belt has been the ‘IT’ item to own, to: 1. accessorise your outfit, while, 2. drawing attention to a slim waist. However, for Autumn / Winter 2010 the thin belt made a comeback. A look that is set to clinch in your waist with a fresh refined elegance, minimal aesthetic and give a nod to simpler, classic dressing.
Worn high on the waist or loose and slighter lower, the thin belt brought a breath of fresh air to the collections. Skinny belts feed through belt loops or worn tight at the waist over dresses / shirts, emphasise tiny waists.
As seen at:
Chloé
At Chloé thin creamy caramel toned belts were worn high on the waist evoking a smart, chic style. Think Lauren Hutton or Charlie’s Angels.
Prada
Prada’s thin belt was used to accentuate and flatter female curves. Gorgeous fifties inspired dresses and A-line skirts were pulled in at the waist, before knitwear and chunky sweaters also came down the runway belted.
Louis Vuitton
Also celebrating the fifties / sixties wasp waists and full circle skirts, Louis Vuitton’s sweet bow belts created a charming ‘French’ accent to the look.
Michael Kors
Worn differently at Michael Kors, the thin belt was worn light and loose as a drop waist – conjuring a whole new lifestyle image for this accessory.
