FASHION:

  1. Lanvin’s now in New York
Lanvin is the oldest French fashion house in operation and its new Madison Avenue, New York store will set your heart racing!  At 6,875 square feet and five floors (3 of which are shopping & 2 will become headquarters) equals pure paradise in my books! Walls of necklaces, shoes and handbags set the mood for what I can only assume is truly magical experience! Can’t wait to visit!

  2. Fashion & Business Entrepreneur – Natalie Massenet – Net a Porter
This week I had the pleasure to watch the live stream video of Natalie Massenet of Net a Porter speak  with The Business of Fashion’s founder Imran Amed. The interview was rich with inspiration, ideas and showcased Massenet’s extraordinary know-how.  Some of the topics touched on included: bloggers vs. editors, the fashion cycle, Mr. Porter launch and more. The Net-a-Porter iPad application was also launched simultaneously and looks seriously impressive!  Click here watch Natalie Massenet show BOF around Net a Porter Headquarters in North London.

FRAGRANCE:

  1. Marc Jacobs Launches Men’s Fragrance
Marc Jacobs has just launched his first menswear fragrance “Bang” in London. Jacobs also bared all in the advertising campaign – showcasing him nude on a silver foil background, only concealed by a giant fragrance bottle. This is also a first for Jacobs – who has never appeared in his own advertising.
  2. Taylor Momsen – Galliano’s New Girl
John Galliano has named Taylor Momsen (aka GG’s Jenny Humphrey) as the face of his new perfume to be launched this Autumn. Her radical sense of fashion style has also recently landed her as the face of Material Girl (Madonna and her daughter Lourdes’ new clothing line) and now Galliano! GALLIANO!? …. Not sure about this one… but if she is John’s choice then she must be doing something right…

GOSSIP:

  1. Perfume deals are so last season for actresses…
The Hills’ Kristin Cavallari, High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens and my favourite Golden Girl Betty White – have all got their design hats on! Cavallari is designing a shoe for ShoeDazzle while Hudgens has also announced that she wants to create a line of clothes based on her personal style. Betty White meanwhile is launching a T-shirts and hoodies collection in collaboration with Jerry Leigh Apparel… these look pretty cute…who doesn’t love Betty!Meanwhile, from a slightly different industry, model Daisy Lowe has also confirmed she will be releasing her first fashion line with French label Morgan in November this year.
  2. Kerr and Bloom 4Eva
My favourite model & fellow Aussie girl Miranda Kerr married Orlando Bloom in a top secret civil ceremony in New York. By the time the news broke, the couple were already on their honeymoon. Wearing a vintage Collette Dinnigan gown, I am sure KERR looked positively BLOOMING!

PRESS:
Well this wasn’t exactly happening this week, but I think it is worth mentioning…

One Dress…3 Covers… = 3x Cover press for Miu Miu
What better advertising for a dress than a top magazine cover? Well… 3 magazine covers! Miu Miu hit the jack pot with Vogue UK, Elle UK and American W all using the same dress! Furthermore both Vogue & Prada used it for their August editions!

Photos from guardian.co.uk

Vogue cover model, Freja Beha Erichsen, wore the dress in the stunning citrus orange with beige bow. While on Elle’s cover, Lilly Allan donned a more detailed lilac lace version with black bow. W did get in first though, using the dress in orange but on the July edition with Eva Mendes.

And you have to agree with each magazine’s fashion sense & artistic integrity… the dress is a stunning cover choice especially for the peak of summer!

I can only guess this hat trick will be working wonders for Miu Miu sales! And it seems as if some cover design competition can only enhance what we can expect from both Vogue and Elle for their September issues.

It was already a super cute dress… now just more people get to marvel at it.
