Model Magnifique

I heart Abbey Lee Kershaw

Photo1 from models.com & Photo2 from fashiongonerogue.com

Abbey Lee Kershaw is my favourite model of the moment.

As one of the most coveted faces in fashion, 23year old Kershaw is currently featured in the following campaigns for Fall / Winter 2010: Chanel, Mulberry, Fendi, Ana Sui, Calvin Klein, Jaeger, Gap, H&M, as well as Alexander Wang’s Campaign Video! She particularly caught my eye after she closed the Chanel Spring 2010 couture show and opened the Chanel Fall/Winter10/11 show – Karl Lagerfeld does have magnificent taste!

Also hailing from Australia (like me), Kershaw was born in Melbourne and began her rise to fame after winning the 2004 Girlfriend Magazine Modelling Competition. Quite a humble beginning seeing as she is now ranked 5th on the Top 50 Female Models list by models.com. Kershaw is the face of Gucci’s ‘Flora’ fragrance. She has graced the cover of Australian Vogue three times, as well as Vogue Nippon (Japan) twice. She has also been on the cover of Korean, Russian and German Vogue; Numero magazine four times; and Dazed and Confused twice.

Currently living in New York, NY; Kershaw has her nose and nipple pierced. As of 2009 she had eight tattoos. She is also reportedly friends with fellow models; Karlie Kloss Daisy Lowe, Freja Beha Erichsen, Cat McNeil, Karmen Pedaru and Jonatan Frenk.

Vogue Australia November Feature below:

For the November issue of Vogue Australia, Abbey Lee Kershaw graces the cover and also transforms into a 1970’s disco diva in the fashion story ‘The Last Days of Disco’. Gorgeous silhouettes highlight the striking 70’s vibe. Pieces by Emilio Pucci, Gucci and Hermes capture the feeling to perfection…xx

The Decedent Luxe AW Trends

Photo1 from Reiss.com & Photo2 from Style.com

This is part 2 of my favourite designer & high street takes from the Autumn / Winter trends. The other major looks to cover this fall are: Opulence, Leather, Lace, Military and Global Traveller… I hope you enjoy!

Opulence

After all the talk of minimalism some designers did rebel, creating opulent pieces covered in sparkling darling embellishments. From rich gold embroidery to an abundance of sequins and feathers – ornate looks accompanied by dynamic statement accessories stood out at: Balmain, Elie Saab, Alexander McQueen, D&G and more.

Designer Choice: Elie Saab (pictured above)
At Elie Saab opulent cocktail and full length evening dresses shined in this gorgeous shade. The cut out detailing and deep V neckline gives an undeniably sexy note to this sparkling vision.

High Street Choice: 1971 Reiss (pictured above)
1971 Reiss embellished bomber jacket is too cool for school! It’s sexy and sparkly but with an edge. Love the striking sequined pattern!

Keeping Warm with AW Trends

Photo1 from whistles.com & Photo2 from flickr.com

This coming season, the designers gave us plenty of gorgeous reasons to look forward to the cooler months. Celebrating streamlined simplicity, you will be able to indulge your senses in ultra-soft leathers, tweeds, cashmeres, velvets and shearling.

But it will be difficult to decide on your winter warmers. Cool Aviator Jackets, chic Capes, classic Coats and incredible Chunky Knits; all look undeniably sleek, sexy and not to mention cosy!

Below are my favourite pieces from the Designer collections & the High Street for  Autumn / Winter…

Shearling Aviator

Two major trends this coming season are the Aviator jacket and Shearling. Stepping in to take over the reins from the biker jacket, the Aviator jacket is cool, chic and effortless to wear. You can slip it on over anything and everything.

Shearling is a sheepskin or lambskin pelt. To achieve the luxurious texture, the shearing process is limited to produce the uniform depth of the wool fibres. The Shearling Aviator popped up at Burberry Prorsum, Pringle of Scotland and Mulberry (& at Mulberry Shearling topped jackets and their cute boots!).

Designer Choice: Burberry Prorsum (pictured above)
The Shearling Aviator was the first outfit on the catwalk at the Burberry Prorsum Autumn / Winter 2010 show. With luxe shearling, decadent leather detailing and gorgeous khaki colour – this jacket hits all the right notes.

High Street Choice: Whistles (pictured above)
Whistles sheepskin parka is a perfect choice to keep warm and nail these two essential Autumn / Winter trends in one. Loving it!
