Shimmering, Shining Sequins

A fresh fashion optimism swept the Spring / Summer runways with shimmering sequins brightening up any gloomy day.

Sequins and beads add luscious texture and movement to beautiful bejewelled gowns. But don’t save these twinkling stars just for evening. During the shows girls were venturing out in shining sequins from head to toe, accompanied by countless bangles and trinkets. When it comes to sparkle this Summer think: the more the merrier.

Fashion should be fun, beautiful and inspiring. This pure bejewelled optimism is set to enliven every wardrobe with pretty sparkle.

At Elie Saab, languid silhouettes were embellished with rippling sequins for exquisite results. At Dolce and Gabbana the collection came to a close with the duo’s signature lace cocktail dresses, but this season they were encrusted to the hilt in colourful crystals. Pretty patterns and a rainbow of colours, created mesmerising show stopping gowns of twinkling beauty. While at Marc Jacobs a pretty bejewelled coat had unmistakable charm and a sweet glamorous appeal.

Get A Little Hot Headed

Pretty & sweet; an assortment of beautiful headbands were on show during the Fall 2012 collections.

Headbands are the perfect accessory to invest in. Whether they have bows, embellishments, are bright or neutral – headbands play off beautiful dresses, handbags and shoes to perfection.

Opulently embellished headbands could be easily spotted at Dolce & Gabbana and Oscar de la Renta. Drawing attention to beautiful faces, embellished headbands add an splash of drama and sparkling delight to your look.

Meanwhile at Clements Ribeiro and Moschino Cheap & Chic (pictured above), headbands were much more minimalist. These knotted variations appeared only in black at Clements Ribeiro, while at Moschino Cheap & Chic pretty pastels added that extra teaspoon of sweetness to the collection.

A Flick Of Liner

Be inspired by the seductive, smouldering make-up of Brigitte Bardot. The pure siren appeal of those black eyeliner flicks is back…

For the Summer / Spring collections designers referenced the French style icon, Brigitte Bardot, and her irresistible eyeliner flicks.

At Dolce and Gabbana and Ruffian, traditional eyeliner flicks were bold and sexy. While playful and inventive variations of the eyeliner flick appeared at Badgley Mischa, Marios Schwab and Matthew Williamson, where colours were lighter (brown & grey) and shapes were more exaggerated.

To create this alluring make-up trend, use black eyeliner that is blended out at the corner of the eye. When you add your mascara, make it heavier around the outer eye. Meanwhile, keep skin light and dewy with minimal product for a clean fresh look. Use a pretty soft pink lip-gloss for overall perfection.

What is your favourite make-up trick right now? xx
