Beverly Hills Resident Magazine

Recently I was honoured to be approached by Beverly Hills Resident Magazine to create their annual Holiday Issue Cover.

About The Cover

Inspired by this year’s Rodeo Drive Christmas Decorations with their vivid streaming of red and white, I wanted to create a cover that perfectly captured the spirit of the festive season.

With bold, striking tones of red textured paint; my art piece had to encapsulate the fashion, style and decadence of Beverly Hills during the Christmas season. Wearing an opulent ball gown and luscious red lipstick, my Beverly Hills lovely is surrounded by piles of elegantly wrapped gifts and splashes of paint.  Accompanied by the chic, minimal cover design – I adore the overtly festive feel of the cover result.

Beverly Hills Resident – The Holiday Issue

The Holiday Issue of Beverly Hills Resident Magazine is a celebration of luxe glamour and gourmet Christmas delights.

Featuring ‘The Ultimate Gift Guide’; ‘Presents From Paris’ and many more lavish holiday fashion, style and beauty ideas – it is the perfect luxurious guide for Beverly Hills residents, visitors and admirers alike.

Other features include: “Mon Shu” By Karl Lagerfeld; Glamour According to Nicholas Oakwell; Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Star Kyle Richards’ New Style Emporium; and more.

The Holiday Issue is sponsored by Beverly Hills Estate Agents, THE AGENCY & French Luxury brand, S.T. DUPONT.

The magazine will be available to purchase from iTunes soon
{the iPad cover is pictured top}.

Happy Holidays!

Love Cara xx

Style

Beverly Hills Style

Home to many of the world’s most stylish and influential for decades, Beverly Hills walks to its own fashion beat.

From the timeless, classic allure of Old-Hollywood to the decadently embellished opulence of today’s celebrities – Beverly Hills is the epicentre of what is in style and on trend right now.

And of course much of its iconic fashion status can be attributed to film. The Hollywood-hopefuls who flock to LA looking for their shining moment; the scene-stealing gowns worn by leading ladies on the big screen; or the everyday street-style of Beverly Hills residents with their polished, All-American style.

It is little wonder fashion and film go hand in hand. A memorable fashion moment caught on film can shape a generation. One film, set in Beverly Hills, which was so enriched with iconic fashion moments from its time, proves to be as much an inspiration now as it was then…

Clueless

Cher – The Quintessential Beverly Hills Girl

When it was released in 1995, Women’s Wear Daily described Clueless as the “fashion film of the year”. I mean who didn’t want to dress like Cher and Dionne?

With a nod to ‘the style’ of the 90’s {grunge}, Clueless featured no less than 53 different types of plaid. No mean feat. Yet this wasn’t the baggy, Kurt Cobain-wearing plaid typical of the mid-90’s era. In vivid delightful colours, Cher and co lit up the screen in matchy-matchy little skirt suits, cute argyle sweaters and platform Mary-Jane’s.

Precocious and confident, Cher’s preppy little rich girl look contributed to a decade of mini-skirts, bare-midriffs and knee-high socks.

The film also captured the design opulence of the 90’s – with dramatic feather-trimmed coats, faux-fur handbags, mini-backpacks, and statement making hats.

With over 56 costume changes during filming, Clueless also brought a lesson in style and fashion to the masses. Cher’s schooling of her Calvin Klein little white dress and even more so her Azzedine Alaïa {a name practically unheard of outside the fashion set} had girls quoting:

 “It’s an Alaïa,” – Cher
“An A-whatta?” – Mugger
“It’s, like, a totally important designer.” – Cher
