A Breath Of Fresh Fashion Air… Crisp White

Nothing looks as sophisticatedly chic as an all white look

This coming season, many Designers chose to embrace a clean palette of creamy white hues for a fresh fashion start.

Fashion should be fun, positive and inspiring. And with the new air of optimism that swept through the Spring / Summer collections, it is set to enliven every wardrobe.

Yves Saint Laurent once said: “What I love about Manet is the sumptuous, nuanced white.” Elegant, sharp and tailored – white appeared across the catwalks like a breath of fresh fashion air. From Dolce and Gabbana to Calvin Klein Collection, Derek Lam and Alexander Wang – the seductive, sweetness of white evokes innocent beauty while being sophisticatedly sensual.

White cleanses the palette. From delicate white lace and sweet broderie anglaises – nothing says Summer dressing quite like it…

Dolce and Gabbana

Taking inspiration from a ‘hope chest’, Dolce and Gabbana’s white lingerie-inspired dresses, sexy skirt-suits and innocent baby doll dresses – all lent themselves perfectly to pure white. The show stopping finale – all models appeared wearing the signature Dolce and Gabbana hourglass corset all in white (pictured above). Simply breathtaking…

Calvin Klein

At Calvin Klein simple cuts, luxe minimalism and architectural lines all in white creamy hues looked classically chic…

Alexander Wang

“Did you notice anything? There’s no black! I was looking for something optimistic, something pure.” said Alexander Wang of his Spring / Summer collection. Beginning the collection with a series of all white looks, Wang’s optimism shone through in his own way. The looks were deconstructed and strong, with model’s also wearing white paint in their hair. Alexander Wang gave white its own street-style cred…

Will you embrace white summer dressing? xx

Gorgeous In Gucci…

Glamorous, Striking, Powerful, Sexy = Gucci

Lara Stone looks spectacular in Gucci as she graces the cover of Vogue Paris February 2011 issue…

Wearing my favourite dress from the Gucci Spring / Summer 2011 collection; Lara Stone was photographed by Mario Sorrenti posing in front of a gorgeous flower garden. With popping purple eye shadow, pouting red lips and her tousled blonde hair; Stone looks the epitome of Spring goddess. The dress; Stone; and cover design; are simply divine! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS COVER!

Gucci Spring / Summer 2011

Opening with an electric bolt of colour (in the form of an orange blazer, violet strapless top, gold belt and green trousers); Gucci’s S/S11 collection saw a return to high voltage glamour. The collection exuded a spirit reminiscent of Yves Saint Laurent.“I pushed the accelerator on the provocation“, said Frida Giannini of the collection.

Splitting the collection into three distinct segments, it featured jewel colour combinations, camel and black before finishing with bright tribal inspired cocktail dresses. Dresses were woven with leather while jewels and feathers added a spectacular dash of detailing. It was glamorous tribal energy at its best! Dark orange, gold, emerald and black made for an impressive ending statement to the collection.

A Tutti Frutti Fashion Trend

Brighten up your wardrobe with colourful fruity looks inspired by the Spring / Summer 2011 collections.

Between Prada, Stella McCartney and Moschino Cheap & Chic, designers were feeling for a Summer health kick. There were Banana prints on the Prada runway, while Miuccia Prada herself wore banana earrings backstage. Of her colourful collection, Miuccia Prada said: “I’m tired of minimalism.”

Meanwhile, at Stella McCartney, models looked fresh, vibrant and citrusy in luscious lemon and orange prints. At Moschino Cheap & Chic, a divine lemon print 50’s inspired skirt teamed with a matching top and waisted belt, made my heart stop! So divine! Other fruits that took to the runway included; apples at Miu Miu and cherries at Anna Sui, while at Blumarine models carried lemon handbags.

However, dressing in fruit can be daring. If you would prefer to ‘taste test’ this fruity trend, check out Charlotte Olympia’s banana clutch bag or mixed fruit platform heels (pictured right). The striking heels are decorated with interlaced pineapples, bananas, strawberries and watermelons. It is the perfect way to incorporate the trend into your everyday style with effortless flair.  Of her pieces, Charlotte Dellal, the designer behind the Charlotte Olympia label, says; “They are tongue in cheek but wearable, I like accessories which have a sense of humour.”

So be daring in citrus! Make a colourful, fresh statement. You can now eat your fruit and wear it too! xx
