A Flick Of Liner

Be inspired by the seductive, smouldering make-up of Brigitte Bardot. The pure siren appeal of those black eyeliner flicks is back…

For the Summer / Spring collections designers referenced the French style icon, Brigitte Bardot, and her irresistible eyeliner flicks.

At Dolce and Gabbana and Ruffian, traditional eyeliner flicks were bold and sexy. While playful and inventive variations of the eyeliner flick appeared at Badgley Mischa, Marios Schwab and Matthew Williamson, where colours were lighter (brown & grey) and shapes were more exaggerated.

To create this alluring make-up trend, use black eyeliner that is blended out at the corner of the eye. When you add your mascara, make it heavier around the outer eye. Meanwhile, keep skin light and dewy with minimal product for a clean fresh look. Use a pretty soft pink lip-gloss for overall perfection.

What is your favourite make-up trick right now? xx

Lanvin’s Valley of the Dolls

French Luxury House, Lanvin, has created a limited edition collection of fabric dolls to raise money for women with HIV in Africa.

The dolls are made in the spirit of Jeanne Lanvin, Lanvin Founder, who would make clothes for children and their dolls. Four limited edition fabric dolls each dressed in its own Lanvin Petite outfit, have been hand stitched and embroidered by women in Swaziland who are diagnosed as HIV positive. The dolls will go on sale in November to coincide with the launch of Lanvin’s first luxury childrenswear range – with each miniature gown a scaled down version from the main collection.

The film was even more successful [at the] Toronto [film festival].”

‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ Doubles In Sales Thanks to Miss Harper Beckham

Sales of one of my person favourites, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’, has doubled since the arrival of David and Victoria Beckham’s baby girl – Harper Seven Beckham. The classic novel, first published in 1960, is now sitting at number 38 in the bestsellers list.

David Beckham (pictured right) has said of his daughter’s name: “One reason is Harper’s an old English name which we loved – and one of the other reasons was Victoria’s favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird and the author was Harper Lee. It’s a very strong, passionate book. That’s where Harper came from.”
