From nautical stripes & splashes of colour to statement hats and iconic style – these are just a few of the things that are inspiring me right now.
For August, I will be taking the time to enjoy the simple pleasures of lazy Sunday afternoons spent reading on my veranda; delighting in many sweet desserts for my birthday; decorating my new apartment; and planning a future trip to New York. August is one of my favourite months as it is truly a transitional time of year. Whether you are soaking up the final days of Summer or cosying up during the last spell of Winter, enjoy this delightful month. And it is also my birthday!!!
What are your August Inspirations? xx

Fashion & Interiors
Over the last couple of weeks I have been busy moving into a new apartment and I thought I would give you a sneak peek!
This is the first time in my life I have been truly able to decorate in the style I want. Which has been delightfully exciting! As many of you already know, I am a little obsessed with all things French, so my decorating inspiration has been a mix of ‘Parisian chic’ cross with 1960’s cool (and so far I have already had someone tell me my black dining table and mustard chairs make them think of Tom Ford’s ‘A Single Man’ – a definite good sign!). It is still a work in progress, but the feature furniture pieces are now in and it is starting to come together. I will be creating some large fashion illustrations to hang on the big white walls… so be sure to watch this space.
Meanwhile, for my outfit I am also channelling two iconic Parisian looks – striking black & white and classical nautical stripes. I am wearing a striped blouse and little black pleated skirt both from Portmans and my heels are from Nine West. Red lips and nails add splashes of colour to my look.
Paris, je t’aime xx
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! xx
Saturday’s news of Amy Winehouse‘s untimely death deeply saddened me. While I did not know her personally, it is a great tragedy that a brilliantly gifted young woman, whose extraordinary talent brought something distinctly new and inspiringly unique to the world, lost her life in her prime. Despite her personal struggles with alcohol and drugs, at just 27, Amy Winehouse is gone but will not be forgotten.
While few would be unaware of her extraordinary voice and impact on music in the last decade, some may be slightly more surprised of her distinct presence in fashion.
Amy Winehouse had a unique style entirely her own. With her thick slick of black of eyeliner; voluptuous towering beehive; and instantly recognisable aesthetic – she gave an unmistakable nod to 60’s cool. Her trademark vintage-inspired style captured the fashion world’s attention. In 2007, Karl Lagerfeld said: “She’s a style icon. She’s not only a muse; she’s a genius. She’s one of the greatest voices today”. Lagerfeld also referred to her as a ‘dark Brigitte Bardot’. The Chanel Pre-Fall 2008 collection was inspired by her characteristically British fashion quirk. Models with messy, upswept hair and winged eyeliner took to the catwalk and immediately brought no one but Amy to mind.
Amy Winehouse was a shining star; a wonderfully kind heart; extraordinary voice and a talent that transcended culture. RIP Amy xx
